A discussion regarding the health care reform or even health care in general can be somewhat controversial. The definition of health is drastically different depending on whom you speak to. Many would define health as a persons absence of disease, others would describe good health based on the status of mind, body amp; social well-being (GCU Lecture, module 2, 2012). According to The American Heritage ® Dictionary of the English Language, health is defined as The overall condition of an organism at a given time. An individuals overall health affects the nation, this is where stakeholders come into value. According to Keele, Buckner amp; Bushnell a stakeholder is either an individual or an organization that either invest time and†¦show more content†¦However, stakeholders like the ANA and the Institute of Medicine (IOM) continuously demand higher education for health care professionals to meet the high demand and the complexity of our health care system today. For an exam ple; the ANA highly encourages for all registered nurses to achieve a bachelors degree. With the ANA support in March of 2010 President Obama proposed the Health Care Reform Act to help assure individuals better, high-quality, and affordable health care insurance coverage. (Health care reform in the United States, 2010, p.1). The health care is a human right, and will continue to fight on behalf of nurses and their patients to ensure that this is achieved (Ana: Ensuring nurses, paragraph, 1). By attending and speaking at public health care events, being involved with other stakeholders like; Health Reform Dialogue (HRD) group, and along with staying up to date and in contact with the Congress and Capitol Hill the ANA shows its involvement to achieving the goal that the health care reform act insures. Stakeholders and other health care professional organizations gather to speak about health coverage, disease prevention, and increasing funds for education. The Real Causes of the Depression - 1020 Words

Statistics show right now in the United States the unemployment rate is high. A lot of people are saying that this is bad and the economy is slowly going downhill, but most people forget to think that these things are normal and is nothing worse than the Depression of the 1930s. Although some people say that the Depression was caused by the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act, it was strictly due to many reasons that were unrelated to the Act. The Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act was signed by President Herbert Hoover on June 17, 1930. It had been proposed in 1929 and was passed in June of 1930 by Congress (Burg 63). Two men by the name Reed Smoot and Willis C. Hawley, who were republicans, sponsored this Act, but 46 states did not see the significance or how†¦show more content†¦This is usually said to have been a result of Smoot-Hawley, although when looking further this statement could not have been more wrong. For the economy to be stable there needs to be equilibrium, which is a stable bal ance between spending and other factors within the government. During the Depression the two categories that were lacking were the food or consumption and investment spending. This caused a huge drop in employment (O’Brien). When people stop buying food as often for their family and themselves to eat, there are less people need to keep up with the once busier stores. Therefore, a drop in jobs occurs, and the same happens when people stop investing in things because of the lesser amount of money.
